by Christen Behzadi

The Persian Wedding celebrations are elaborate events that span almost a year start to finish and begin well before the dazzling ceremony at the Sofreh Aghd (Persian Wedding Table). Planning the Wedding Table ( known as the Sofreh Aghd in Farsi) is an important milestone in the wedding planning events. Most lavish Sofreh Aghd take more than a year to plan. In reality, many Iranian families are planning for this event the entire lives of their children; slowly collecting beautiful pieces like Termeh (Persian Tapestry) , candelabra, and mirror (ayaneh). It is both traditional and practical to locate "family items" that can be included in your wedding table.

In order to begin the process of getting organized here is an itemized list of the items necessary to  begin your preparation for your Persian Wedding Sofreh Aghd.

I've developed this checklist as well to help you get organized as you begin to plan your Persian Wedding. Feel free to also save/download the checklist image for this article complimentary to use in your preparations.
