The Persian Wedding Book: What is Aghd?

What does “Aghd” Mean?

The word “Aghd” in Farsi means contract.  In this sense it is referring to the wedding contract.  In Iranian wedding tradition there are two “Aghd” ceremonies . There is a legal “Aghd” that legally marries the couple. There is then The Sofreh Aghd ceremony (The Persian Wedding as most people know it) which is traditionally small but nonetheless its purpose is a community event.

This is a bite sized piece of The Persian Wedding Customs and Culture. Everything you need to know about The Persian Wedding is in my book The Persian Wedding Book.
